Entry #8 Art for the Body

 Hello All!

I would like to talk about body art tonight.

While many people will wear specific types of clothing in order to show off, there are lots of people who also do so by getting tattoos, getting piercings, or dyeing their hair. I just recently got a new piercing (the first one that I have bought with my own money!) and today, I dyed my hair again. I have dyed my hair countless times, doing natural colors and crazy colors. I have numerous piercings, including septum, nostril, navel, several on my ears, and hopefully soon, another ear one and a mouth one. I also got my first tattoo a couple months back. Why did I get all of these? Three reasons. One, it is fun to get these things done. It gives me a rush and excites me. Two, it lets me express who I am just a bit, especially the dyed hair. Three, I like how they look. Maybe 30 years from now, I won't like some of what I did, but right now, I am in love with all of it, and that is what really matters.

There are some people who are against these things. Some may think that it is too bad to put ink in your skin, to put so many chemicals into your hair, or to put too many holes in your body. Others think that it all just looks ugly, or like the person with all of these things are trying too hard to do something wrong. And it is fine to have those opinions, as long as those people are not being treated badly because of them.

Though many people think this way, they are all on the rise in today's world. Though lots of people want to express themselves or bring joy to themselves, young adults and teenagers have been pushing hard for this to be a good thing. They want to break through and rebel against old customs and make some new ones. I, for one, think that this is great, as more and more people are coming out of their shells and trying to share their stories with the world.

Let me know what piercing, tattoos, and hair colors you've done in the comments!

Signing off,

Zila
