Entry #6 Happy Haunted Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween Everyone! I am a day early, but it is still exciting.     Do you celebrate Halloween? We do! It did not used to be about everything that is pushed out every year, but since what most people know it as is a costume and candy holiday, that's what we'll talk about!     What do you do for Halloween? Maybe go to a party or go trick or treating? Carve some pumpkins or bake some spooky goods? My family likes to decorate our house, inside and out, before anything. We carve pumpkins, dress up, and go trick or treating. In this entry, I'd like to talk about fun things to do around Halloween, and why they are so great!     Starting out small, there are scary movies to watch. There's a large variety to choose from, ranging from old classics such as Frankenstein  to the newer ones like The Invisible Man . My personal favorite is the Scream  franchise. It can be such scary fun! Decoration the home is always a fun one, giving you quality t...

Entry #5 Mighty Mayhem

Image
Hello everybody! Cat :30 | Allstate Mayhem     We see advertisements everywhere we go. We see them on billboards as we drive to work, in the news, on video platforms and social medias, and more. But how many of us stop to think about what that ad is trying to tell us, implicitly, rather than explicitly? In other words, not what they are trying to sell us, but what they want us to know. Some advertisements or commercials use humor, such as Jake in State Farm commercials or Flo in Progressive Insurance commercials. Others lean on usage of pathos to bring people in, like animal shelters do. Most of the time, I do not pay attention to ads. I will glance at them, but until something really catches my interest (generally the funny ones), I ignore them.  The link above takes us to an advertisement that I'd like to talk about in this entry.     The advertisement starts out with Mayhem lounging on the cat the way one might lounge on a sunny beach, en...

Entry #4 Simulated Life

Image
Hello All!     Have you ever played one of the Sims  games? If you have, did/do you enjoy it? Comment and let me know! Right now, I am emotionally attached to my Sims in Sims 4  (which, for the base game, just went free to download, for those who want to try it out), and I am currently in a battle against the urge to spend 40 bucks on a huge expansion pack, so now you know my answer to those questions.      If you don't know what Sims  is, it is a series of simulated games in which one can live as characters, create homes, or both. Some of the games are only for building towns or cities, some focus more on creating characters and their relationships. In games like Sims 4 , you are able to do both, and you can have many characters in several households. You can create relationships that are romantic, sexual, friendly, or familial. They can work and retire, go to school, hang out at public places such as parks and bars, and many more.    ...

Entry #3 A Delicious Treat

Image
Hey y'all!      Everybody loves some sort of delectable treat, be it candy, baked goods, fruits, or any other type of foods, especially around holidays (like Halloween!). Let me know yours below! This entry will tell you allll about one treat I just cannot stay away from.      Let's go through a detailed moment of what eating my yummy delight is like. When I grab the packaging, parts of it feel smooth and other parts are wrinkled. It makes crinkly sounds like baby wipes or cat toys. I wonder why they put something circular in a rectangular package. But I am eager to ingest it so instead of pondering, I easily tear the package open and I pop the goody into my mouth. The flavor is like fireworks, it takes over everything else, but also brings everything into focus. It starts to melt very, very slowly until it is melted enough for me to safely bite down on and then I crunch away what is left.       It brings me back to junior high, sp...

Entry #2 Dystopia - Impossible or too possible?

Image
Hello Everybody!     Today, my entry is about the question in this title. Is dystopia impossible or is it too possible?     Many people have read dystopian novels, maybe they liked them, or maybe they hated them. But lots of those people do not even know that they are reading dystopias. So what are they? Dystopia is defined as  "a very bad or unfair society in which there is a lot of suffering, especially an imaginary society in the future, after something terrible has happened" (Cambridge Dictionary). Dystopian novels are fictional stories in a dystopian setting. Think, The Hunger Games , Divergent , Uglies , The Selection, The Maze Runner , etc. If you are interested, here are some more choices,  Dystopian Novels .      Even knowing what they are, so many people see it strictly as it's written; fiction. But have you ever stopped to think about what would happen if they weren't?  What if the government decided to split us into fi...
