Entry #10 "It's gonna be Legen...wait for it...dary!"

Image
Hey Y'all! The title of this blog is an important one to me. It comes from a show I just recently finished watching, which is now one of my favorite shows of all time.  This show had lots and lots of fans from beginning to start. It's emotional, but not too emotional, it's weird, but okay enough for most to continue watching, it's funny, but....well, it's cheesy. What can I say? From the friendships, to the bar nights (which is most nights), to the corny jokes, to the telepathically speaking, it had so much going on that you either loved it, or you hated it. This goes, more than anything, for the ending.  How I Met Your Mother ran for nine seasons, capturing the lives of five adults in Manhattan as the years go on. Ted's character is voicing the extremely long story of how he met the mother of his kids, as he is telling them this exciting story. But even though the show was beloved by many, the ending had many angered. It became controversial and fans either co...

Entry #9 Drink for Thought

Image
Hello Everybody! Let this one sink in for a moment.      What do you think or feel when you see this? Maybe it makes you want to stop your friend from drinking them. Or maybe it makes you laugh. It stopped me for a moment. I love energy drinks, specifically Red Bulls. I would absolutely drink them more than once a day if I could. The thing is, caffeine gets me pretty easily and I would be so shaky, and my heart would be racing so much that I would not be able to function very easily if I drank too much.       According to the CDC, energy drinks can be described as  A beverage that typically contains large amounts of caffeine, added sugars, other additives, and legal stimulants such as guarana, taurine, and L-carnitine. Many people drink energy drinks several times per day. Some do it for the caffeine, while others do it for the flavors. Either way, it can be extremely dangerous to drink them too often. The contents of many of these drinks c...

Entry #8 Art for the Body

Image
Hello All!           I would like to talk about body art tonight. While many people will wear specific types of clothing in order to show off, there are lots of people who also do so by getting tattoos, getting piercings, or dyeing their hair. I just recently got a new piercing (the first one that I have bought with my own money!) and today, I dyed my hair again. I have dyed my hair countless times, doing natural colors and crazy colors. I have numerous piercings, including septum, nostril, navel, several on my ears, and hopefully soon, another ear one and a mouth one. I also got my first tattoo a couple months back. Why did I get all of these? Three reasons. One, it is fun to get these things done. It gives me a rush and excites me. Two, it lets me express who I am just a bit, especially the dyed hair. Three, I like how they look. Maybe 30 years from now, I won't like some of what I did, but right now, I am in love with all of it, and that is what really...

Entry #7 Fresh Thoughts

Image
Hello all!      In my English class this semester, we recently watched a film titled Fresh . We watched it in preparation of one of our essays that we would be required to write.       I was asked the questions ; " Have you ever thought about the food you eat and where it comes from? I mean, really, really thought about it? Questioned it? Considered it?". My answer is "not really".       On occasion , or with specific foods, I wanted to know or had a thought fly by about where it might've come from, but I always avoided finding any answers because I knew that if I did not like the answer, there was a good chance that I would no longer be able to enjoy the foods I wanted and liked.             While I was watching the film, nothing really stood out to me or caught my interest, other than seeing things with the animals like the chicks just being tossed to the ground. It did not make me think of...

Entry #6 Happy Haunted Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween Everyone! I am a day early, but it is still exciting.     Do you celebrate Halloween? We do! It did not used to be about everything that is pushed out every year, but since what most people know it as is a costume and candy holiday, that's what we'll talk about!     What do you do for Halloween? Maybe go to a party or go trick or treating? Carve some pumpkins or bake some spooky goods? My family likes to decorate our house, inside and out, before anything. We carve pumpkins, dress up, and go trick or treating. In this entry, I'd like to talk about fun things to do around Halloween, and why they are so great!     Starting out small, there are scary movies to watch. There's a large variety to choose from, ranging from old classics such as Frankenstein  to the newer ones like The Invisible Man . My personal favorite is the Scream  franchise. It can be such scary fun! Decoration the home is always a fun one, giving you quality t...

Entry #5 Mighty Mayhem

Image
Hello everybody! Cat :30 | Allstate Mayhem     We see advertisements everywhere we go. We see them on billboards as we drive to work, in the news, on video platforms and social medias, and more. But how many of us stop to think about what that ad is trying to tell us, implicitly, rather than explicitly? In other words, not what they are trying to sell us, but what they want us to know. Some advertisements or commercials use humor, such as Jake in State Farm commercials or Flo in Progressive Insurance commercials. Others lean on usage of pathos to bring people in, like animal shelters do. Most of the time, I do not pay attention to ads. I will glance at them, but until something really catches my interest (generally the funny ones), I ignore them.  The link above takes us to an advertisement that I'd like to talk about in this entry.     The advertisement starts out with Mayhem lounging on the cat the way one might lounge on a sunny beach, en...

Entry #4 Simulated Life

Image
Hello All!     Have you ever played one of the Sims  games? If you have, did/do you enjoy it? Comment and let me know! Right now, I am emotionally attached to my Sims in Sims 4  (which, for the base game, just went free to download, for those who want to try it out), and I am currently in a battle against the urge to spend 40 bucks on a huge expansion pack, so now you know my answer to those questions.      If you don't know what Sims  is, it is a series of simulated games in which one can live as characters, create homes, or both. Some of the games are only for building towns or cities, some focus more on creating characters and their relationships. In games like Sims 4 , you are able to do both, and you can have many characters in several households. You can create relationships that are romantic, sexual, friendly, or familial. They can work and retire, go to school, hang out at public places such as parks and bars, and many more.    ...

Entry #3 A Delicious Treat

Image
Hey y'all!      Everybody loves some sort of delectable treat, be it candy, baked goods, fruits, or any other type of foods, especially around holidays (like Halloween!). Let me know yours below! This entry will tell you allll about one treat I just cannot stay away from.      Let's go through a detailed moment of what eating my yummy delight is like. When I grab the packaging, parts of it feel smooth and other parts are wrinkled. It makes crinkly sounds like baby wipes or cat toys. I wonder why they put something circular in a rectangular package. But I am eager to ingest it so instead of pondering, I easily tear the package open and I pop the goody into my mouth. The flavor is like fireworks, it takes over everything else, but also brings everything into focus. It starts to melt very, very slowly until it is melted enough for me to safely bite down on and then I crunch away what is left.       It brings me back to junior high, sp...

Entry #2 Dystopia - Impossible or too possible?

Image
Hello Everybody!     Today, my entry is about the question in this title. Is dystopia impossible or is it too possible?     Many people have read dystopian novels, maybe they liked them, or maybe they hated them. But lots of those people do not even know that they are reading dystopias. So what are they? Dystopia is defined as  "a very bad or unfair society in which there is a lot of suffering, especially an imaginary society in the future, after something terrible has happened" (Cambridge Dictionary). Dystopian novels are fictional stories in a dystopian setting. Think, The Hunger Games , Divergent , Uglies , The Selection, The Maze Runner , etc. If you are interested, here are some more choices,  Dystopian Novels .      Even knowing what they are, so many people see it strictly as it's written; fiction. But have you ever stopped to think about what would happen if they weren't?  What if the government decided to split us into fi...

Entry #1 My thoughts on Blogs

Image
Today's entry is going to be all about blogs. What are they? How do they make me feel? How might they influence my very own blog (that you guys are just so lucky to be reading!)?  To start, I have never really had an interest in blogs, of any kind. If not for my current English class, I would probably still be able to say that I hadn't read any blogs. However, looking through and analyzing several blogs has helped me see that blogs are more than just personal journals. Today, I looked through tons of blogs, but I will only throw out my opinion on three of them.      Starting with  Far Out Magazine , a blog about music, travel, art, and film, all mostly of the independent, or "indie", category. When I saw what they were about, it piqued my interest, leading me to check them out. You are able to click on the separate categories and they were organized, both nice things, but it seemed almost bland for what they are. I am a very colorful per...

Entry #0 Introducing Me

Image
Hey y'all!      My name is Hannah, but I go by Zila.  My pronouns are she/her and I am openly bisexual. I am an 18, almost 19, year old licensed nursing assistant. My current goals are to major in nursing and minor in education. I would love to work in geriatrics and Ob/Gyn, and eventually to teach future nursing students.  I love drawing/sketching, and I am fairly good at it too - when I don't have an artistic block. I love dancing and listening to music. Some of my favorite artists include Avril Lavigne, AJR, and Yungblud, though some falling close behind those would probably be Fall Out Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, and  Taylor Swift.       I am an avid reader most of the time, generally preferring books in the genres of supernatural, dystopian, or romance fiction, sometimes in a blend of the three. My all time favorite series right now are probably The Mortal Instruments and Twilight, both of which I have been reading for years. I am a bit ob...
